Description
The Vigilante Mile and 5k footraces take place the weekend before Helena's historic Vigilante Parade, and serve as a fundraiser for the proposed Montana Heritage Center. Both races start and finish at the Capitol building, and take runners past the site of the current and proposed museums.
Last year, the Vigilante Mile was launched as Helena's first competitive off-track mile, attracting both elite and recreational runners. The race consists of a single loop around the Capitol Complex on a sidewalk-like fitness path.
New in 2011, the 5k is also a loop-style course that will take runners east from the Capitol to the old Broadwater cupola behind Smith School and back.
Both courses are accurate, scenic, and interesting. Race entry includes a commemorative t-shirt, and awards will be given to the top male and female finisher in each event. Results will be emailed to participants the day of the race, and posted here.
